The printer will now work in concert with the New Matter Store to provide the “first and only affordable, fully integrated end-to-end consumer 3D printing experience.”“We have created a 3D printing experience that everyone can enjoy,” says Steve Schell, CEO and co-founder of New Matter. “We accomplished our goal of simplifying the 3D printing process by creating an easy-to-use 3D printer and an integrated 3D design marketplace. We feel that the market is poised to take this next big step in integrating 3D printing into everyday life, and New Matter is here to make the experience seamless and user-friendly.”New Matter says among the major features of the MOD-t 3D printer are its affordability (it retails for $399 at the New Matter Store), its being designed for the home, Wi-Fi enabled, quiet and safe and eco-friendly. The device prints with PLA, a consumer- and eco-friendly material available in an array of colors. The MOD-t 3D printer was designed in partnership with design firm frog (www.frogdesign.com) to create a clean and elegant look ideal for any living space. The complete 3D printing experience – from hardware to software – was designed for simple and reliable operation. The idea for the design began in 2014, when New Matter ran a successful Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign for the initial production of the MOD-t 3D printer. Over 2,500 supporters contributed more than $680,000 during the campaign. New Matter has recently fulfilled these pre-orders and transitioned to direct sales. This early, the MOD-t 3D printer has already achieved several accolades in design and innovation including being the 2015 CES Innovation Award Honoree, CE Best in Show Winner for 2015, and was a finalist in Fast Company’s 2015 Innovation by Design Award. This week, New Matter will also be launching its educational initiative, Educate and Inspire, focused on supporting STEM education and inspiring innovation through 3D printing.New Matter Inc., headquartered at 130 W Union Street in Pasadena, was founded in 2014 with a mission to bring 3D printing to every home, school, and office. The company is backed by leading venture capital firms and is an operating company of Idealab, a creator and operator of technology companies that has started more than 125 companies since 1996.For more information about New Matter and the MOD-t 3D printer, visit www.newmatter.com.
