But this has nothing to do with their poor performances in the third Test at Leeds as the appointments of officials for each Test had been already decided before the beginning of the Ashes series.New Zealand’s Chris Gaffaney had 7 decisions overturned at Headingley while Joel Wilson had as many as 8 decisions overturned by the Decision Review System in the opening Test match at Edgbaston. While Erasmus is set to be one of the on-field umpires in both the remaining Tests, Palliyaguruge will partner him in the field in the 3rd Test as Dharmasena will don the role of the 3rd umpire. The latter will swap roles with his countryman for the last Test. The third Test of the 5-match Ashes series was in the balance when Wilson’s howler allowed Ben Stokes to continue his innings and win a thriller for England by 1 wicket. After a heroic hundred by Ben Stokes, England still needed 6 with only 1 wicket in hand when Nathan Lyon struck Stokes on the pads. Australia appealed and it did look like a good shout but Wilson shook his head.Unfortunately for Australia, they did not have any reviews left. TV replays showed Joel Wilson’s would have been overturned on DRS.In the next over, Ben Stokes smashed Pat Cummins for a boundary to seal one of the greatest Test victories for England. After the Test, Ben Stokes said DRS had got it completely wrong and he was not out anyway.advertisement”DRS has got that completely wrong,” said Stokes who was the toast of England after his sensational 135 not out. “It flicked my front pad first and didn’t spin. I thought as soon as it hit me it was sliding down. I still can’t believe it was three reds.”Also Read | Blind umpire: Joel Wilson’s Wikipedia page vandalised after howlers in 1st Ashes TestAlso SeeFor sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to Like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter for Sports news, scores and updates.Get real-time alerts and all the news on your phone with the all-new India Today app. Download from Post your comment Do You Like This Story?
